I hadn't even thought of that particular aspect of it until you brought it up-- the big names founding their own record companies. I happened to be thinking of small beginners who would like the opportunity for their music to be heard and realize that contracting with large record companies means their promotions, tours, all of it are at the whim of managers who might decide someone else in a slew of competitors is the more interesting prospect at the moment.
