I admit, I'd be far less nervous if I had any idea what to do after school. The thing with the semester off, though, was that I had a scholarship which might have gotten threatened had I tried it.

I'm actually something of a mathematics- or physics-engineer more than a systems-engineer, but that's a good point. I should definitely consider non-"engineering" jobs, for example.
