Apples of a specific variety are all clones. All Fujis are grafted clones.

So too for Braeburn, Mackintosh, Braeburn, Gala, Pippin, Winesap, etc..

So biodiversity, for apples, isn't really an issue. Flavor is a fine reason to avoid a variety.
