Does anyone else find today's Writer's Block ... voyeuristic?

And now, for something completely different.

In between slacking off at my job and slacking off at home (coincidentally, both are due in part to feelings of frustration, powerlessness, and irritation at Stuff Not Done The Right Way), I've been reading on the bus. Most recently, Daniel Dennett's Consciousness Explained.

Having already read The Mind's I, Breaking the Spell, and Elbow Room, I must say that I am reading with both anticipation and trepidation - Dennett is smart, but sometimes unfortunately disappointing. But, although I have only made it through the introductory section, I'm beginning to think this might be one of the excellent ones.

More on that when I finish (maybe!).

I think you should read some Jane Austen:)

Re: Today's 'Writer's Block'.
Yes, it's a touch voyeuristic, but then, so is the whole process of blogging. In any case, it's spring in the southern hemisphere, so to pleasure my mate, were I to have one, I would bring them a freshly caught mammal of some kind. It just seems the right thing to do after a long hibernation.

Fair enough. :)

Um, well you should probably go to the library booksale then….

Get Pride and Prejudice. It’s such a good book. I have convinced a few male friends of mine to actually read it and much to their surprise they liked it almost as much as I do. The catch is that you have to let me know your thoughts on the book when you finish. You won’t be disappointed in the book as a whole. If you are then you can suggest your favorite book and I’ll read it and let you know what I think. Deal?

Aww, you don't have to do that...

...but if you're offering, I'd have to say Shardik by Richard Adams. ;)

(Pride and Prejudice is officially On The List!)

Haven't read that one yet.... P&P should be easy to find though. I went to books a million and they didnt have the book you suggested either. I'll have to order it from Amazon along with a few others I needed.

I might be able to borrow a copy, actually - I believe my sister has it.

It’s definitely worth the read! I hope you enjoy it.

I’m finishing up a series by Julia Quinn. She writes historical romance novels. I know… I should be ashamed for reading such filth but I‘m a sucker for lighthearted romances with happy endings. I should be finished by the end of the week. I’ll need a change of pace by then so I’ll pick up the book you suggested from the library. I called today and they have it. Be aware that I’m a slow reader so it may take me a week or so to complete it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend:)

Heh - as someone who read ten of the first ten books in the Honor Harrington series, I am in no position to be snobbish. ;)

(You too!)
