I'll start. A liberal republican? Even Bloomberg has abandoned the Republicans. Chaffee's gone. Bush the elder embraced voodoo economics. Nelson Rockefeller is dead. You're talking about a species all that's left of which is rumors about a day, once, a long time ago when they thrived like dinosaurs. You might as well be talking about never-divorced Republicans or beer swilling feminazi frat boys.

Then I'm trying to be John Hammond.
The way I see it, the people with power in the Republican party are incompetent to rule. (I refer chiefly to the past six years in this – I hadn't been paying attention to anything prior to that.) But as far as I can tell, there are only two effective ways to work to changing that.
One, voting for reasonable candidates in primaries and in the general elections.
Two, convincing my fellow Republicans to vote for reasonable candidates in the primaries and in the general elections.
Most Republicans aren't crazy, of that I'm sure. I just want to break the power of conformity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asch_conformity_experiments) and encourage better thinking.
