I argue constantly, and I hate every minute of it. I'm usually compelled to argue because I insist that there is clarity and precision in conversation, that each party understands what the others are actually saying (as opposed to what the listener is hearing based on their own biases and prejudices), and that any action taken -- whether it's a left turn or moving a network cable to a different port -- is taken from a point of complete understanding by all parties.

So, there are lots of times that I don't argue. If I think everything's clear already, I keep my yap shut. But, if I'm not clear on something, or I have any hint that somebody else isn't clear on something ... here comes the argument!

I also show contempt for some people by refusing to argue with them. That happens when I no longer think they have the capacity to understand something, no matter how clearly it is presented.

And, yeah, I do know how much of a bastard this makes me.
