Internet Infidels DB

Quick life update: Went to the Spring Court of Honor for my old Scout troop last night. The troop is doing very well, with numerous new members and rank advancements. In addition, I managed to confirm my being able to go to Scout camp with them (said camp will run from July 2nd to July 9th, Saturday to Saturday) and to register my interest in a 50-miler hike in August. Also, I got to talk to my friends in the troop.

Now, on to the main subject of my post: The Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

This discussion board is part of the Secular Web, a larger website organized by the Internet Infidels. This sponsoring organization is a nonprofit dedicated to the promotion of a naturalistic worldview, to paraphrase their main webpage. In other words, it is an organization specifically friendly to atheists, agnostics, and the like.

That is not to say that the DB is exclusively populated by such characters. In fact, it is a major point of their philosophy to welcome those of all worldviews, and in accordance with this, there are rules in place preventing flaming and the like. Basically, they tell you, "Don't be a jerk."

As a result of these factors, the IIDB is a very interesting place to be. There are regular discussions on all sorts of topics, ranging from philosophy to TV shows, and there is even a "Formal Debates" section. It is this last that provided my final trigger for joining.

So, I am now a member of the Internet Infidels Discussion Board, with the user name "Robin Z". Maybe I'll see you there.
