List three things you'd buy with your last $20. One practical, one frivolous and one of your choosing.

(Hmm, the wording is a little ambiguous. Let's say I've got nothing left but $20 and the clothes on my back and nobody to lend me money, and I'm going on one last shopping expedition before I find a street grate to sleep on.)

1, Practical: A trenchcoat, missing a button. Approximately $7 at the thrift store.
2, Frivolous: A Walkman or equivalent, plus batteries and a tape. Approximately $8 at the thrift store.
3, Practical: Baby Wipes or the equivalent in a plastic box. Approximately $5 worth at the grocery store.

Food, you can get.

I think I'd really get along with hobo!you. I'd probably say the same thing, though I'd debate between the baby wipes and mace. It might be a bit scarier being on the street as a chick.

What kinds of tapes would you get? I was thinking sixties, seventies classic rock and oldies - they're numerous enough I could probably find some for a quarter.

(Yeah, that's probably true - I might have to worry about cops planting drugs on me so they can throw me in the hoosegow, but I'm probably safer from random assault.)

I was thinking the kinks, the beatles, ezio, or Hendrix. Possibly Def Leppard. Don't even ask about the last one. Something to which I know all the lyrics. I need to be able to sing along.

I would get one thing, and as a bonus, I think it satisfies all three questions:

A bus ticket to some place less sucky.

Granted, these days, 20 bucks in bus fare doesn't go all that far ... but might go far enough.

That's clever. Pity I don't know of any places nearby that would be better than where I am.
