Are there even that many people browsing the Internet?

Apparently, a while back, someone made a bet. They bet that they could make a webpage receive One Billion Page Views. That's unique hits.

First thing I thought of when I read the link on greybeta: Man, how many of those hits are going to come from links that say, "He's totally going to fail"?

the_gneech is probably best known as the creator of the webcomic Suburban Jungle, which I don't read. (Yet.) However, he is also the author of a series of vignettes about two characters named Brigid and Greg.
