Warning: I went running with a stopwatch today. The following is almost certainly only interesting to [livejournal.com profile] zhurnaly!

Finally got out to the track today - or in to the track, since it was late and getting dark. It was a tenth-mile track inside the rec center at school, so I did intervals of two laps running, one or two walking.

Splits:
  1. 1:53.63 (one lap warmup, walking)
  2. 53.56 (one lap, jogging)
  3. 1:41.00 (one lap, walking - I walk slower later)
  4. 42.25 (one lap, running - 42 seconds is the 7-minute pace I was aiming for)
  5. 43.83 (one lap, running - this is a common pattern, second running lap being slower)
  6. 1:45.55 (one lap, walking)
  7. 45.44 (one lap, running)
  8. 44.57 (one lap, running)
  9. 1:55.02 (one lap, walking)
  10. 35.50 (diversion to the water fountain)
  11. 42.16 (one lap, running)
  12. 43.00 (one lap, running)
  13. 4:08.82 (two laps, walking)
  14. 42.91 (one lap, running)
  15. 43.25 (one lap, running)
  16. 2:12.15 (one lap, walking)
  17. 36.06 (one lap, running - this is the one where I went crazy, it's a 6-minute pace)
  18. 42.41 (one lap, running)

and then I walked back downstairs to the locker room and showered.

Only other interesting thing - I weighed myself on their scales, got 73.1 kg, which is a little higher than usual for me.

Ah! I love that at least some Americans know and use the metric system!

Ah, barely ... thank engineering school for that!
