Although it is sort of funny that the author didn't know that 22/7 = 3.1428(57142857...).

Honestly I am more comfortable with pronumerals :P I usually just keep it that way till the last minute and then use a calculator.

It's a good system most of the time, although where the best "last minute" is can vary. I find that Gaussian elimination is easier with numbers than with algebra.
