Content warning for eating problems.

The way we put it is: we have to invent so many more meals now.

Food is ... tricky. We're not super physically capable and we have a lot of issues with anxiety and executive dysfunction, so turning ingredients into food is normally tricky enough that we've been relying heavily on eating one of the few meals that we don't get sick of quickly: pasta with chili.

We make chili in batches, or buy cans. Pasta ... we've been making pasta since childhood, and it has lost all intimidatingness.

...it's hard to get pasta now.

If we do make pasta, we can only make it as an intentional decision - a choice to make pasta rather than do without to preserve our dwindling supply.

And we don't have a default, easy meal any more. We have to process what we have and what we're capable of and what we're willing to consume and what won't leave us feeling like crap in two hours, and construct out of these limitations food. We have to invent almost every meal.

It's a lot.
