Just a quickie: day-before-yesterday, I called the school's Residential Facilities to have them repair the fluorescent in my dorm room. When they asked for my name, I told them, "Robin Zimmermann, with two Ns."

Today, I found on my desk a form indicating repairs had been completed. In the "Caller" field? "Martin Zimmerman".

Has anyone else had their name that badly misheard?

I've had "Fade" rendered frequently as "Faith", occasionally as "Faye", and on one odd occasion as "Fey". Which could be an entertaining name, but is not mine.

A million million times. My name has come up as Saucer, Saucher, Sausher, Sawyer, you name it. And don't even ask about the pronunciations.

Haha, "Hayward." Through all 7 years of Primary school, I never once got a certificate with ti spelt right. They all said "Haywood", except one - which said "Haywar".

..."Haywar"? I almost hope that wasn't a typo – I'd like to meet the person who thinks that's a typical name.
