This afternoon, I went with my mom and sister to see The Island at a somewhat remote theater. I was initially hesitant about going, but when Mom described the basic sci-fi premise (clones, having been made for organ transplants, escaping from their prison), I was eager to see it.
And it was good. It was no Equilibrium – the action scenes were somewhat overblown, and not well thought out from a 'realism' perspective – but it definitely not Minority Report, since the sci-fi parts were quite interesting and clever. And to be honest, I can't criticize it for the realism-weakness of the action scenes, considering how rare it is for movies to get such things right. In fact, ignoring the whole "There's no way they could get away with that" factor, they were first-rate.
So, today was pretty fun.
