So, the computer I got day-before-yesterday?
I got a monitor today.
It's secondhand, as it happens:
nanakikun had two monitors at home, and was willing to part with one for the school year, for a fee. In any case, I brought the thing back to my dorm, along with the necessary cables, and tried to set it up. At which point I discovered that the VGA socket on the computer was the wrong parity to fit the cable.
"Alright," I thought. "
nanakikun wanted some power cords anyway, so I'll pick them both up at the school surplus store tomorrow."
Then, I got out of my class early, and decided, "I'll pick them both up at the school surplus store today. I don't have a car, but it's not to far, right?"
...
Ri-i-ght.
I did get there before closing, however, by dint of jogging nearly the whole way. I found the power cables with no trouble, of course. The special VGA cables/cable adaptors? ... no.
To make along story short short story shorter,
nanakikun had already departed for home upon my return from the surplus shop, so I ended up stowing the cables I did get in my bag to deliver tomorrow. Since by this point I was sweat-soaked and stinky from it, I also changed my shirt.
Oh, and I found out that I was looking at the wrong plug and I didn't need the VGA extension cable after all. All I needed was an operating system. Hurrah.
